Historical Institutionalism, Hybridity and Institutional Logics in Public Transport History

This paper responds to calls for new theoretical frameworks within which examine transport history and bring it into contact with other disciplines a view overcoming some of its alleged previous preoccupations Anglocentric economic data. It offers three interconnected ideas from fields, historical institutionalism, hybridity institutional logics proposes that these tools can assist historians in making sense the qualitative material archival records. The also suggests by explicitly framing public as political process, engage wider social ecology interest groups than those represented interests. Whilst recognising assumptions inherent an approach limitations scope author's own research, argues nevertheless be used widely effectively.
